I present a product review of my favorite winter hat; crowncap aviator fur hat. I bought my first hat about 10 years ago while living in Montreal Quebec, and have used it every winter since.
I’ve field tested my hat down to -42C with windchill, so naturally over the years, I added a few more hats with different designs to my closet.
CROWNCAP is based out of Winnipeg Manitoba and have been around since the 1930’s but in the late 80’s it was bought and the focus was onto higher end fur accessories & hats.
The Aviator fur hat is one of their signature items.
How does a 10 year old fur hat hold up over time? and what are the manufacturing changes?
The hat holds up very well. Only the corners is worn where the leather cracked a bit. Otherwise the construction is still the same. The nylon insulation seems to be a bit lighter on the newer hats, but still as effective at -25C.
You wear these hats when it’s below zero degrees, otherwise they are too warm to wear. For the price and value, I love these hats.
100% wool exterior, nylon & rabbit fur are the materials used for in the hat.
You can do a simple mod by adjusting the drawstring, when it is windy, the ear flaps tend to float up. #avoidingchores
